What is ridge modification?During the ridge modification procedure, the bone defect is filled with bone graft material which can help regenerate lost bone. Depending on the case and type of dental implant and procedure, a dental implant may be placed during the ridge modification procedure or after the healing process is complete. Ridge modification can also help improve the cosmetic appearance of your implant teeth, the functionality of the mouth, and help increase the lifespan of the implant. Why would a need a ridge modification?Ridge modification also called a dental implant placement procedure, may be recommended to help treat deformities in the upper or lower jaws. These deformities can occur as the result of gum disease, trauma, injury, dentures, or developmental problems. As a result, there may be insufficient bone for a dental implant placement. |
